Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty Council 8297

Our Council was chartered in March of 1983 and named after Msgr. Hugh O’Flaherty who was was the subject of the movie The Scarlet And The Black that was released that same year, inspiring our Charter members to select the Monsignor as our namesake. Hugh O’Flaherty CBE (28 February 1898 – 30 October 1963), was an Irish Catholic priest and senior official of the Roman Curia, and a significant figure in Catholic resistance to Nazism. During World War II, O’Flaherty was responsible for saving 6,500 Allied soldiers and Jews.  A synopsis of the movie here.

The Council was formed in service to St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Mission in Suquamish, and the surrounding community of Poulsbo, WA and Kitsap County.

Council Meetings are held in the old resident’s house at St. Peter’s Mission in Suquamish, WA. Officers Meetings are held on the Thursday before the second Tuesday of each month and Membership Meetings are held on second Tuesdays of each month. Both will start at 7 PM.
